1. Specialization in African American Books and Cultural Diversity:

Malik Books is dedicated to showcasing African American literature, calendars, and gifts that celebrate cultural diversity and pride. They provide a platform for voices often underrepresented in mainstream bookstores.

2. Focus on Children's Books:

Recognizing the importance of education and the role of children in shaping the future, Malik Books offers a wide selection of diverse children's books. This aligns with their belief that "children are 100 percent of our future."

3. Curated Selection: 

The bookstore prides itself on offering conscious, hard-to-find, hot, and best-selling books, catering to a wide range of interests within the African American community.

4. Long-Standing Presence:

Malik Books has been serving the Los Angeles community since 1990, with two physical store locations at Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza and Westfield Culver City Mall. They also have an online presence through MalikBooks.com.

5. Podcast - Malik's Bookshelf:

To further engage with the community and promote literature and culture, Malik Books has launched a podcast called "Malik's Bookshelf." The podcast is produced by Ryan Seacrest and is available on various podcast platforms.

6. Community Outreach:

In 2022, Malik Books expanded its outreach efforts by launching "Malik's Bookmobile," aiming to promote reading and education in underserved areas.

7. Scholarship Initiatives:

Malik Books collaborates with organizations like the Crusader Praise Scott Scholarship Fund (CPSF) to provide scholarships for college freshmen. Over the past five years, CPSF has raised over $20,000 and awarded 18 scholarships.

8. Partnerships:

Malik Books actively partners with schools, youth organizations, and literacy initiatives to promote reading within the community. They have also sponsored book drives in underserved areas of Los Angeles, contributing to literacy efforts.
